2nd day- Devlog


so i missed day ones devlog but better late than never. (quick recap) yesterday I had my first person character setup and my monster ai setup for pathfinding and chasing the player and also quickly modeled and textured a sledge hammer (that i might redo since it kinda suck rn) and a flashlight.

Today - 

  • i added a little swing animation to the hammer when clicking. 
  • i also added the lose condition, when the monster collides with the player they will die.( maybe ill have a little animation/cinematic but idk if illl have time)
  • i blocked out a simple level added a win condition that the player can do by using the sledge hammer on the green wall ( this wall will be replaced by a broken wall with cracks in it, i will also add light behind the wall that shines throught the cracks to make the wall more noticable and make it easier for the player to see). 
  • i created wall models and one cabinet model that need to be textured. 
  • i managed to create a model for the head of the monster, i used the monkey model in blender as a base and went from there. it turned out ok, maybe ill improve it but probably not. 

notes -

i normally spend 3-4 hours each day on this project, im happy with my progression but i feel like i should have more by now, especially since i started the game jam a day late.
im not entirely sure how im going to do the lighting, i dont know if i should solely have the flashlight as the only source of light or have some lights in the scene( im going to need playtests and feedback for this).
i want to have a randomly generated maze everytime but i dont know if i have the time to learn and create this so it might need to come later.
The sound is probably the most important thing so ill put all my focus onto that once i have most of the base game stuff done and ui.
im not sure  if it will be worth creating settings like mouse sensitivity, i probably will as they dont take too long but they will be the last stuff i add so im not sure if i will have time.
